HAPPY CRAB LTD., a company registered in England and Wales under company number 10435896, trading as "Footbeen", is the controller of personal data processed through the Footbeen mobile application, footbeen.com, and related services (together, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why we use it, when we share it, and the choices and rights available to you.
1. Information We Collect
Account and profile information. This may include your email address, authentication details received from your chosen sign-in provider, username, display name, bio, profile photo, favorite club, language, settings, visibility choices, and account status.
Football activity and preferences. We process attended and planned matches, stadium visits, clubs, leagues, dates, ratings, notes, achievements, statistics, verification results, imports, community contributions, reports, and related activity.
Social activity and communications. This may include follows, friends, invitations, companions, profile interactions, messages, message attachments, delivery or read status, notification activity, and the privacy settings that apply to those features.
User Content. We process profile photos, match and stadium memories, uploaded photos and media, captions, comments, notes, submissions, messages, and associated metadata such as ownership, upload time, related match or stadium, and moderation status.
Location information. Location access is optional and used when you request a location-based feature. Nearby discovery may use your current position. A stadium verification request may send a one-time precise position to our systems. Exact coordinates are kept in a restricted recovery record for up to 30 days so we can resolve verification errors and prevent abuse, then removed from active systems. The verification result, time, reported accuracy, calculated distance, stadium-coordinate snapshot, and individual validation results may be retained with the visit. Temporary backup copies expire under our backup lifecycle and are not used for routine verification. If you enable Stadium Alerts, your device may monitor selected stadium regions. Footbeen does not use these features to build a continuous history of your movements or retain geofence-entry coordinates.
Device, usage, and diagnostic information. We may process device and app identifiers, IP address, browser or app information, device type and model, operating system, app and build version, language, time zone, screen and feature interactions, timestamps, network and performance information, crash reports, error details, and diagnostic context.
Acquisition and referral information. We may process the source of an app install or website visit, campaign and referral parameters, invite attribution, and related timestamps to understand acquisition and apply referral features.
Communications. We process support requests, legal or safety reports, email delivery and preference information, and information you provide when joining an email list or communicating with us.
2. Authentication
You may sign in with Apple, Google, or an email one-time passcode. When you use a third-party sign-in provider, we receive the account information that provider makes available according to your choices, such as a name, email address, or relay email. We do not receive or store your Apple or Google password.
3. How and Why We Use Information
- To perform our contract with you: create and secure your account; provide match, stadium, map, statistics, import, social, messaging, sharing, notification, and support features; store and display User Content; and apply your settings.
- For our legitimate interests: operate, understand, maintain, troubleshoot, improve, and promote Footbeen; measure service and campaign performance; prevent fraud and abuse; enforce our Terms; protect users and rights; moderate content; and maintain security and audit integrity. We consider the nature of the information and the reasonable rights and expectations of users when relying on these interests.
- With consent where required: use optional device permissions or send marketing communications where applicable law requires consent. You can withdraw consent through the relevant device, app, email, or account controls, without affecting earlier lawful processing.
- To comply with law and protect vital interests: respond to valid legal requests, preserve evidence, address urgent safety issues, and establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
4. How We Share Information
We do not sell personal data and do not share it with third parties for their own direct marketing. We may share information:
- With service providers supporting hosting, authentication, storage, diagnostics, analytics, mapping, notifications, communications, security, moderation, and delivery of the Service
- With other users or the public according to the feature you use, the content you share, and your visibility settings
- With professional advisers, authorities, rights holders, or other parties where reasonably necessary to comply with law, enforce agreements, address infringement, or protect safety, security, rights, and property
- In connection with a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, sale of assets, or similar corporate transaction, subject to appropriate confidentiality and legal safeguards
Our service providers may process only the information reasonably required for their role and are subject to contractual, technical, or legal safeguards appropriate to that processing.
5. International Transfers
Some recipients may process personal data outside the United Kingdom. Where required, we rely on recognized safeguards such as adequacy regulations, approved contractual protections, or another lawful transfer mechanism. You may contact us for more information about safeguards relevant to your data.
6. Visibility, Public Display, and Footbeen Marketing
Your profile and plans visibility settings affect what other users can see. Private profiles may still display a limited identity shell so users can recognize one another for social features. Public or shared surfaces may display your username, display name, avatar, favorite club, statistics, activity, User Content, shared cards, leaderboard information, and public links.
Information you make public or share with others may be copied, saved, indexed, reposted, or distributed outside Footbeen. Changing a setting or deleting content does not control copies previously made by other people or external services.
As described in our Terms of Service, Footbeen may use User Content and associated profile information to operate, improve, promote, and market Footbeen, including in product surfaces, websites, social media, emails, app store materials, press materials, advertising, and product screenshots. We do not sell User Content or provide it to third parties for their own unrelated marketing.
7. Retention, Deletion, and Takedown
We retain personal data for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Service, maintain security and audit integrity, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, improve Footbeen, and comply with legal obligations. Retention depends on the type of information, its purpose, sensitivity, the account's status, and applicable legal, security, moderation, backup, and operational requirements.
Account deletion removes or anonymizes active account data according to our deletion process. Limited information may remain temporarily in backups, logs, caches, moderation or fraud-prevention records, legal records, or material already shared, published, or incorporated into promotional materials. We may retain email preference and suppression records to respect opt-outs and comply with law. Anonymous information that can no longer identify you may be retained.
If you believe content infringes your rights, violates your privacy, or should be removed, contact support@footbeen.com with enough detail for us to review the request.
8. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing; receive a portable copy of certain data; withdraw consent; and complain to a supervisory authority. The availability of a right may depend on the information and the lawful basis for processing.
You can update certain profile and privacy information in the Service, delete your account through available account controls, manage device permissions in your operating system, and opt out of non-essential email communications. You may contact support@footbeen.com to exercise a right or ask a privacy question. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.
If you are in the United Kingdom, you may complain to the Information Commissioner's Office. You may also have the right to complain to the authority in the country where you live or work.
9. Data Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal data, including encrypted transmission, authentication controls, access restrictions, and monitoring. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Children's Privacy
Footbeen accounts are not intended for children under 13, and children under 13 may not create or use an account. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If we reasonably believe that an under-13 account exists, we may restrict or delete the account and associated data. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal data, contact support@footbeen.com.
Users aged 13 to 17 may receive additional privacy and safety protections. A parent or guardian should review the Service, these policies, and the young person's privacy choices with them.
11. Automated Processing
We may use automated tools to support security, rate limits, recommendations, data quality, abuse detection, and moderation prioritization. We do not use solely automated processing to make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about users.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy to reflect changes to Footbeen, our business, the law, or our data practices. We will provide appropriate notice of material changes. Where consent is required for a new purpose, we will request it separately.
