Switching to Footbeen from another app?

It does not matter which app you use today. Your match history belongs to you, and bringing it to Footbeen is straightforward. Here is how.

Step 1: Get your data out

Most football trackers let you export your data. Here is where to look:

  1. Check Settings or Profile

Open your current app and look for Export, Download Data, or Share in your Settings, Profile, or Account section. Many apps bury this option — check every menu.

  2. Look for CSV or spreadsheet export

The most useful format is CSV (comma-separated values). Some apps also offer Excel, JSON, or plain text. Footbeen can read all of these. If you see multiple export options, choose "Fixtures" or "Matches" — that is the data you need.

  3. Save the file

Email it to yourself, save to Files (iOS) or Downloads (Android), or share it to any cloud storage. You will upload it to Footbeen in the next step.

No export option? You still have options.

Option A: Request your data

Under GDPR and similar privacy laws, you have the right to receive a copy of your personal data. Send your app a message asking for it. Here is a template you can copy and paste:

Most apps respond within a few days. Some may take up to 30 days (the legal maximum under GDPR).

Option B: Copy your match list manually

If your app shows a list of matches you have attended, you can simply scroll through it and type them into a spreadsheet or notes app. Include the date, home team, away team, and competition for each match. Then paste that list into Footbeen's import tool — it will match them with our database.

Option C: Start fresh and backfill

Download Footbeen and start logging new matches immediately. Then backfill your history at your own pace — search for past fixtures in Footbeen (we have 1,000,000+ matches from 2010 onwards) and tap "I was there." Many users find that searching by date or club is faster than dealing with CSV files. It takes a few evenings, but your whole history ends up in one clean place.

Step 2: Import into Footbeen

  1. Download Footbeen

Get it on iOS or Android. Create a free account — it takes 30 seconds.

  2. Go to Settings → Import Matches

Open the Settings screen and tap Import Matches. You will see options to upload a file or paste text.

  3. Upload or paste your data

Upload your CSV/Excel file, or paste your match list directly. Footbeen will automatically detect the format, match your games against our database of 1,000,000+ fixtures across 1,300+ leagues, and import everything it can find.

  4. Review and confirm

Footbeen will show you which matches were successfully matched and which ones could not be found. Confirm the import, and your map, stats, and match diary will populate instantly.

Formats we accept

Footbeen's import is flexible. We read:

CSVAny separator (comma, semicolon, colon, tab)
Excel.xlsx and .xls files
Plain textPasted match lists from notes
JSONStructured data from APIs

The minimum we need per match is a date and two team names. If your data includes stadiums, scores, or competitions, even better — we will import all of it.

FAQ

How long does the import take?

Usually under 30 seconds, even for hundreds of matches. The matching runs on our servers so your phone stays responsive.

Will all my matches be imported?

We match against 1,000,000+ fixtures across 1,300+ leagues from 2010 onwards. Top-flight and major leagues have near-perfect coverage. Very old matches or lower leagues may not be in our database yet — we will show you which ones could not be matched.

Can I import more than once?

Yes. Duplicates are automatically skipped. If we add new leagues or fixtures later, previously unmatched games may import successfully on your next try.

Do I have to delete my old app?

No. Your data stays in your old app too. Use both if you want. Footbeen just gives you a richer way to track, explore, and relive your football journey.

My app is not listed here. Can I still import?

Yes. If your app exports any structured data (CSV, Excel, JSON, or even plain text), Footbeen can read it. If you are stuck, email us at [email protected] with your file and we will help you import it.

I have no export — can I really request my data?

Yes. Under GDPR (if you are in the EU/UK) and similar laws elsewhere, companies must provide your personal data in a portable format within 30 days of your request. Use the template message above — it works.

What if I cannot remember all my matches?

Start with what you remember. Your camera roll, social media posts, old tickets, and text conversations are surprisingly good memory aids. Many fans discover they have attended far more matches than they thought once they start digging. Add them gradually — there is no deadline.
